Roomies ("we", "us", or the "App") helps roommates manage shared living — expenses, cleaning rotations, and shopping lists — with real-time sync across devices. We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

What data we collect

  • Account & Profile: name/nickname, email, preferred language.
  • In-App Content: expenses/balances, cleaning tasks, shopping list items, apartment roles.
  • Device & Usage: device model, OS/app version, approximate IP, push token, crash/performance diagnostics.
  • Analytics (Firebase Analytics): User ID, in-app usage events (screen views, expense creation, joining apartments, shopping list and cleaning task actions), session data, and technical device information. Data is collected in encrypted form and used to improve the user experience.
  • Advertising (AdMob): Advertising ID (where available), ad impressions/clicks, consent status where legally required.

How we use data

  • Provide core features: real-time sync, invite/join apartment, role-based access, notifications.
  • Improve the App: diagnostics, performance, feature usage. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users navigate the app, which features are popular, and to identify technical issues.
  • Monetize: show ads via Google AdMob.
  • Safety: prevent abuse and unauthorized access.

  • Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, FCM, Analytics)
  • Google AdMob
  • App Store / Google Play

International transfers

Firebase and AdMob may process data outside your country (including the US). Appropriate safeguards apply.

Retention

  • Account: retained while active; deleted upon verified request.
  • In‑app content: kept for shared history; removed when deleted or upon account deletion.
  • Analytics/ads logs: per Firebase/AdMob defaults.

Your choices & controls

  • Access/Rectify/Delete: via email.
  • Notifications: system/app settings.
  • Ads personalization: device settings, consent prompts.

Security

  • HTTPS in transit, Firebase-managed encryption at rest.
  • Access controls via Security Rules.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13.
